‘Gurlibil’ – Turtle – Bucket Hat

Description

Martha is a Yawuru-Karajarri artist based in Broome. Her art has a strong sense of pattern and colour inspired by the Kimberley landscape and traditional stories.

Gurlibil are a special sea creature for Martha. They are able to be seen in the early hours during Man-gala (the wet) season when they move up into the sand dunes at Cable Beach to lay their jimbu (eggs).
